I watched a Life at the Firm video where the employees looked like they were being held at gunpoint to say they loved the fast-paced environment. You can see the dark circles under their eyes even through the filters, and the fun office perks were just a ping-pong table that was clearly covered in dust. It’s so patronizing when firms try to market themselves as cool when everyone knows the reality is 100-hour weeks and lukewarm coffee. Why can't we just be honest that we’re here for the money and the deals?

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].
