I’m sorry! I sympathize, I was let go 2.5 months ago from a job (I just dont want to use my name on here so am using my previous job title) that I busted ass at for 5 years. I’m worried for when unemployment is going to stop…it said on avg people only get 2-3 months 😥 I haven’t had a single interview yet either. Just rejection emails. And then still seeing the job postings I was rejected from up and availabke for weeks after I got told “we have better candidates” 😑
Florida Unemployment is only 12 weeks a year. And at $275 max a week. How the hell do you live on thT while finding a job at 60?
Florida horrible with this. Do better Florida
I totally get where you are coming from. I worked for my previous company for almost 15 years. I was wrongfully terminated. Meanwhile I am trying to find representation and also look for a new job. It has been 5 months for me. I am slowly going insane. I have no savings anymore either. Just scared really. My sleep is non existent and every day that goes by I try my best to find work. Things are so impersonal these days. All I can say is don't give up. Keep your chin up. You will find something. You are worth so much more than you think.
Sending positive vibes 🌻
Life sucks relying on any employer..
Don't rely on one line of jobs..seek alternative low jobs to pay bills..use unemployment benefits..things will change when you accept the situation..
Wow I’m so sorry
You haven’t gotten any interviews !?
Everyone tells you to go above and beyond and become irreplaceable, but it’s just makes me believe otherwise .
You become especially replaceable when there are management changes above you.
Assuming this is Biglaw. Up or out
8 years? I have a colleague went up to 17years and being laid off with the excuse of “performance”. Technically they threatend him to resign or otherwise. How suck is that? No farewell no nothing. That’s how you are being treated as a loyal staff.
Top of it you will be escorted out like a convict if working from office..
In the same boat! I just started applying for part time and contract work to at least get by. Good luck out there!
It is a terrible feeling but taking it with stride and keep your confidence up. It is a strangely great time to learn some things - we never have time to do that when we are working and if you see jobs you want to apply to with something you don’t have experience in… you’ll be surprised how fast you can learn them online and then apply to them tomorrow. Also keep yourself healthy. Wake up as if you’re going to work every day. Keep a good routine. Do something that makes you feel accomplished every day.
Also, don’t say you have no one to rely on… network. Add colleagues and clients and get in touch with them. It will get better… just don’t spiral downward mentally or else you’ll project negativity when you talk to people vs the positivity you could bring them.
Honestly I also suggest doing something like rover in the meantime too. If you like animals. Keeps you physically active, interacting with animals is therapeutic to many people and you can make some money while meeting people. Sometimes getting out of the house during nice weather months can help your mental state and reset your perspective. When you do talk to someone about a job, you want to be your best self.
Company has massive laid off last November and I was one of them. So I understand. I am still keep on applying, but only to be rejected via email. Very stressful time at the moment.
Try a contract job! Many angencies are out there and this get help you get some money rolling in! You probably wont have benefits but right now you need cash flow!! Also make sure that you are on LinkedIn. Get job alerts, post your resume and keep active! Dont give up!!
You need a different mindset. That company put food on your plate and a roof over your head for 8 years. Not to mention the valuable skills you mustve learned while working there. Be grateful, be confident in your ability, and especially dont talk bad about your former employer publicly. It doesnt do you any good.
You must be the former company
I'm sorry you are going through this. I feel you. I was a Senior Associate with 4 top 10 international firms, then In-House twice with public and private companies and I realized no one gives a flying "F" about you when it comes to circling the wagons. Regardless of what you "thought" were iron-clad connections. I'm doing Project Manager "document review" for a few months just to keep the lights on; have you tried that?
Theres a click at my job lower level management that protect the people from there country in Easter Europe an report the smalest problem photograph it Make sure its documented!!and hide or not acknowledge any mistakes certian people from there part of the word make Mostly with quality inspection WORST KIND OF RACISM
I am no longer a tanker driver, but you must create your own business think of an idea, or something people enjoy or like doing.. Go to your states website and create your own LLC, work for yourself. Corporate America considers you as a number to be replaced by another number. Think outside the box, good luck!

Wow, and I thought i was the only one! Ive been a nurse for over 30 years and have been out of work since middle of February! I just got hired and what a relief! Im single and don’t have any family financial backing either! I know how frightening that is!! I feel you! I applied every day just got rejection emails constantly, then when i was soooo close to getting a really good contract, it got ripped right out of my hand by a travel nurse! The job that i got is not ideal and it is a contract but it is good pay and will save me from disaster, so keep trying, dont give up. Thats all you really can do , also prayers help!

I can relate. I was laid off and my supervisor kept all her friends instead of those who should have kept their jobs. That's how it goes these days. Being older, I worry about anyone hiring me. I'm putting in with places I'd never considered before and that includes the temporary services.
Took me almost a yr to the day to find a new job after a similar situation. But I just kept looking (do not take people suggestions and send 50 resumes a day, they are just clogging up the market for everyone) and eventually, after several other companies reached out and I interviewed for, a CEO reached out to me about a job, and well I', on a 3 month contract to hire.
Also I had much better luck getting to the interview stage with local companies to me. Even if the job was remote.
Yes, me too. May you find a better career with a decent organization soon!
