If I give notice on a Monday and state my last day is Sunday ~2 weeks later, will I get paid for that weekend? Or will they tell me they’re cutting me off the Friday before? (My understanding is we get paid for every day, including weekends, so trying to maximize pay.)

I’m sorry, but by saying your last day is a Sunday just makes you look silly. Your paychecks also likely reflect 2080 hours a year, which just makes you look even sillier.

Why would they make Sunday your last day? Your last day will be Friday EOB. You might have better lucking putting your last day into Monday/Tuesday of the following week.

Once I give notice it’ll be paid time off…

Is this a joke

I did say my last day was a Sunday, but it was the last day of the pay period, so it kind of made sense for me. I’d say, try it. If it works, great, if not, you’ll be okay.

Good point - my last day is Sunday is well. I’ll give it a shot.

Hi - I’ve moved to Toronto (from Asia) with 5 YOE in Corporate banking + 2 YOE IB/capital markets (7 YOE in TOTAL) working roles in Front Office and financial analysis.

Believe I’d be a great fit as an Associate in the same space at the major banks (RBC, TD, Scotia, CIBC etc) or in PE/ Asset management.

Could someone help by mentioning the salary ranges I can expect?

Also any tips on networking would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, in my previous organisation I worked in development domain (Oracle IAM Tool and Java)and my post was software Engineer, i joined Wipro as project Engineer in April 2022 and was assigned non technical project as an analyst.

When do partners decide when an associate is good enough to make partner? I’m a senior and it is extremely clear to me when an associate has it or doesn’t, and moreover it doesn’t take eight years to figure it out; it takes just one or two matters for me to know if they’re adding value or are ultimately just a commodity. It’s hard for me to avoid the conclusion that associates are largely being strung along by partners who are going to can them at some point, long after that decision is made.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!
