For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?
What is the best certification to pursue in this area? Looking at SHRM-CP but want to learn more about others.
I’m studying for the SHRM-CP with the Mometrix (study guides, online course, and flash cards), however I’m super overwhelmed with all of the information. What are some best practices to ensure I grasp all of the concept ? Any advice would be much appreciated!!!
I am interested in getting my SHRM-CP certification this year and I was wondering which study methods and materials worked best for those of you who passed the exam. Also, what are your roles in HR?!
Anyone prepping for the SHRM-CP test? I’m taking a prep course this fall and would love tips or to know if there are any study groups out there!
Hoping to seek everyone’s advice here! I recently moved in-house and have more free time to invest in myself. Which direction would you suggest that I look to for growth? - UX/UI - Coding - Data Analytics - SHRM - PMP - Others?
Hi all, as a Talent Acquisition Partner that is looking to start expending my Professional education, would you recommend pursuing SHRM-CP certification?
Thoughts on Prosci or SHRM-SCP certification? Which would be considered more valuable or highly regarded? Currently focused on Change Management but have a HR background (industry experience / area of study in college).
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
Actively looking for an HR generalist role! Does anyone know any roles opening up soon in your companies? My background: have a BBA in HRM, MSHRM, and SHRM-CP certification. One year and a couple of months in EY’s People Advisory practice, and some HR internship experiences. I’ve done work with the talent team on my projects in the past. I’m looking to go internal ASAP so let me know if you have advice or know of any roles opening in your company 🙂
Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

This is an actual sign in Golden Gate Park which supports my claim San Francisco has become a public toilet.
Applied to McKinsey via the referral portal. Been a week+ and haven’t heard back. Is it safe to realistically assume it will probably be a no?
Hello! Sorry I have no idea how this work but I have a cousin that lives in another country and she is an accounting major and very smart. How can pwc offer her an internship/ job? Is that possible?
Talent Acquisition teams: Are you all swamped and behind in your ATS processing right now? Asking as several colleagues and friends are actively submitting REFERRED applications for well-matched roles--but not hearing anything from HR. Is the need for talent real or is it overblown in the media? Or are a lot of TA people simply drowning at work or out on vacation right now? Tx for sharing if you are able! I'd like to give people some hope!
If offered a job at a promising but small HF, what's the least (base salary) that you would take on the position for?

Trying to exit into FAANG but know it may be a long shot involving a handful of rejections. Meanwhile got approached by a number of recruiters for a) smaller emerging startup <but need to shift geo>, and b) major banks for in-house strategy. I’ll proceed with interviews with a) since it will give me a flavour of tech recruiting, but should I even go through with interview process for b)? Thoughts? Fyi, have not interviewed in 4+ years!
I think the stock market is going to crash any day. Should I have my 401k and index funds moved from high risk to low risk allocations or should I just ride the crash and not time the market?
How to justify your salary expectations?
Could use some 🐠 advice here! Two outstanding offers: - KPMG: Procurement Consulting Practice - Accenture: Business Intelligence Practice Both offers are comparable. What’s important to me: project variety, culture, growth, and wlb. I understand there are trade-offs, but which firm would be the best holistically. Any and all feedback is welcome!
