Be a "yes man". Sign up for any task that comes your way. Not only will you broaden your skills but you'll establish a reputation as someone who's versatile and gets things done. Become the person your employer can't live without.
There is moderation in all things. There are things you shouldn't raise your hand for but it's good to do so enough to challenge yourself. I find it's good to develop a reputation for someone who presents opinions on things that warn of strengths and weaknesses, but ultimately does what you are asked for. It covers you when the pitfalls your predicted come to pass. But I've seen other devs who refuse to do things in the way they don't like and they are unemployed now. Reality rarely allows me to do things exactly how I'd want and you'd be surprised how often I was not as right as I thought when implementation crashed into reality.
Solve the actual business problem. Tech is an enabler of other things.
