I’ve actually considered pre sales but I kept moving up in the PM world. Now I’m a consultant specializing in PM. It’s hard to switch over to pre sale without contacts.
Thank you PM1! If you don’t mind sharing, How much was your starting pay, what is it now as a consultant? And how many hours were you typically working before consulting and how many do you work now?
At first I started as a contractor. My rates went very quickly from $40/hr to $90/hr. Now in consulting role $180k. I started my PM career in 2019. Hope that helps!
That’s very helpful, thank you!!
In my experience, pre-sales folks usually have a technical background.
Although, it does take the a some months to find their first position, I know of many from different backgrounds who have switched to pre-sales by taking a boot camp and obtaining certs. Essentially, that’s the route I would take.
