Honesty is the best policy

Yeah, that’s the struggle. I want to be honest, but I worry it might come across as negative.
I wouldn't offer any information that could potentially make you look bad. If it comes up, have a solid answer prepared for how to explain the situation, and don't bad mouth your previous employer OR divulge your own flaws too much. Keep it surface level.
Pro
That’s really good advice! Less is more in that situation. Keep it brief, stay positive, and focus on what’s next.
Never bring it up and only say you left to find a place with better growth opportunities.
Pro
I wouldn’t bring it up at all, it may come across wrong. Totally wait until it comes up
Pro
That’s a solid approach. Just to keep it simple, positive, so hard to poke holes in.
Pro
Eh I wouldn't volunteer unnecessary information unless I was asked directly about it.
Pro
Yeah, that’s the concern too. If they do ask, wouldn’t it look better to address it upfront rather than seem like I’m avoiding it?
Never volunteer information that could reflect negatively on you. Obviously, don't lie either. Practice how you are going to word the truth in a way that seems the most professional, so if directly asked, you're prepared.
