I am a strategist and have been told InTouch is a “strategy-driven” organization (which is unusual but would be amazing). But another poster just said it’s account driven (which is typical). What’s your experience and how do you know?

I recently stumbled upon a website where some ad folks had compiled a bunch of idea/conceptual thinking approaches and if you clicked through there were past spots that had utilized that idea / way of thinking. I have never done freelance work and was given the opportunity to take part in a cool project. My problem is it’s a proactive case by a brand new agency and it’s their own project, meaning there’s no client who pays for the work. For them it’s PR for their new business, but I think they’re expecting me to work completely pro bono. It does have potential for a great case and I’d love to have it in my portfolio, but is it reasonable for them not to compensate me? Any tips on how to approach this?

Any tips for securing freelance work with US agencies when you live abroad? My work is pretty solitary and I could fly in for workshops or a major presentation.
