They’re training these AI on your copywriting, so every line of copy you write gets absorbed and learned from. They’re making you feed the machine that will replace you. Cool, isn’t it?
I wouldn’t use them currently. And I don’t want to use them eventually either. But realistically, when they’ve matured in the next 5-8 years, they’ll be common place.
Honestly I'm okay with this for things on the level of A/B testing digital banners that compare "now only $50!" to "now 20% off!" Because the fewer of those I have to write, the better.
But any brand that wants actual audience connection won't get much value from AI, at least not soon.
I get the short form copy needs like headlines but yeah there's no real way to have an emotional connection and write a story without a human doing it. I just don't believe it..
I could see clients being more convinced to buy writing that came from AI, either because they genuinely believe in it, or because they’ll have data to point to for their bosses/blame if things don’t work. Which isn’t a good reason (read is a terrible reason). But I don’t think AI copywriting is going to take jobs from any copywriters at the highest levels anytime soon, or lead to much success for anyone who uses it. Maybe for very straightforward sales messaging, but not for brand building and ideas
But how is AI writing more effective than human copywriting?
On one hand you are right — they are terrible. But on the other hand, plenty of CE and clients are more willing to prioritize “done” over “right” so… get ready
Hmm, but if clients aren't satsified, how is that helping them with the bottom line?
How can you say that when this masterpiece exists? https://youtu.be/T1Vt8her-4k
But yes, to your point. This is what happens when you let the bots take over lol
I may sound like will smith in “I, robot” but they can’t do what we do. And code will never replace us. I’m sure of it.
Like all the Roe v. Wade stuff going on, that's not something AI internalize and write
We're all going to think it's a joke because we all understand what goes into a well-written piece of copy. But cheap clients will always be cheap clients. I'm almost a fan of it for the time being because it keeps those nickel-and-dime quotes out of my inbox, and is a perfect place to direct those that still make it through.
That's a good point but what about when it's not the nickel and dime quotes anymore?
To think writing software could replace copywriters is to lack understanding of our jobs (which I suppose many executives do lol). Writing is only a small portion. The rest, like collaborating with art directors, concepting, crafting a narrative for a 30 second spot, sweet-talking clients, all that shit, comprises the majority of my work. A program can't do any of that.
Exactly.

It’s lot of marketing. Any companies involved in natural language processing (NLP) often exaggerate their capabilities. And if they’re selling low cost copywriting I’m guessing that’s definitely the case.
It's not like copywriting is a highly paid position anyway!
