When I was laid off I think it was like 2 weeks. Probably depends on what state you're in though.
Every state is different. In California, it took around 5 weeks for the first check (which covered the first 5 weeks) when I applied in 2023.
Depends on your state. Last year at this time I applied at the end of Oct and it started 3 weeks later.
Why didn’t you register the day or at least week it happened?
@Director, it didn’t affect me either (NYC) since it wasn’t considered income.
I had no probs in NY - as long as your old job aren’t asshats about it - it should go through in 2-3 weeks.
Are you going into the site and filling in the weekly reports about whether or not you worked, how many jobs you’ve applied for etc? You need to do it for every week (if you haven’t, you should be able to do them retroactively now).
NYC - 2 weeks, I think when I applied immediately after getting laid off the system said the payment will be made from the second week of unemployment or something like that
Btw I didn’t receive any severance and was laid off on the 30th, not sure if that had anything to do with the 2 week thing

Depending on where you live you really need to stay on top of it. Go into an office if you can instead of calling if you can’t do that try to get ahold of somebody who can help you if you have a question and need to call them again.
Any severence in NY is prorated out week by week counted as salary, thereby delaying benefits. Not the same for all states.
30 days
It took about 8 wks.
