KPMG doesn’t really do “promotions” from S2 to S3, so I am not sure what exactly you’re talking about. Do you mean promotion to manager?
I am from Asian country, so we have such position. And manager is after S3 according to organisational structure.
That’s interesting, in US s2 to s3 is automatic. Seems like it just means you will not be promoted to manager after this year (since next level is s3 for you). I guess I would see how common this is before resigning, if they singled you out then I would.
Wait they actually hold people back in non promote year? Was it performance based? I feel that your resignation is exactly what they wanted.
It's happened here at EY too for people in my class. Someone didn't progress from Staff 1 to Staff 2 last year.
Please don't resign until you find another job. It's always easier to find a new job when you're still employed (new employers feel as if they are poaching you from your previous employer). Just have a good reason for moving.
I know Asians always have family to fall back on. But considering how difficult it is to get into a big 4 over there, if I were you I would stick it out until you find a job. It’s always better for your resume when you don’t have an unemployment gap.
