32 is not too old to begin a law enforcement career. If you are in good shape, you can easily move into a patrol position. There are other non-patrol positions in a police force as well. It would be easier to join a smaller municipal or county department. There are state requirements that must be met. These may include a police academy course, as well as firearm training, first aid training, possibly psychiatric evaluation, and of course a detailed background check to ensure there are no criminal offenses in your history.
