I'm a 2nd year looking to lateral to a firm in NY from out of state. I passed the UBE with a score high enough to pass in NY and have submitted my application to transfer my score. I have already passed the MPRE and the NYLE. I am still waiting to be formally admitted to the New York Bar, but would like to go ahead and start applying to jobs. How should I convey that to employers? Should I wait until I'm formally admitted? I'm trying to be working there three months from now. TIA!

Apply now and say that your application is pending. I would include a statement in your cover letter that you have submitted all of the necessary paperwork and expect admission soon. You can also add a line to your resume that says your application is pending. It's really not a big deal unless the firm is looking for a litigator who can appear in court immediately.

Still waiting formal admission! They have only sent an email confirming that they have all my materials (about a month ago)… I’m also trying to figure out how long it will take lol

Does anyone have ideas on how to navigate a smaller team environment when everyone’s roles seem to be stretched (hiring for additional people has been taking a while, not sure why). The stress causes some tension and that’s probably not great for the overall morale of the company long-term. I try to ignore and just stay focused on what I need to do yet sometimes proves challenging. I worry it might affect my professional/career growth. Thoughts on this would be helpful, thanks!

Hi, weird question for this forum, so I apologize. I’m trying to be creative here and use the tv stand that I have. The issue is that it has an open back so you can see all my tv wires. I can’t hide the wires because my building won’t let me open the wall. My idea was to slip a tile sheet that is wall behind the tv stand as a back, but I need the tile cut to the specific heigh and width of the tv stand. Does anyone know where I can take this tile sheet to get cut to the specific measurements?

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take?
