Elon is not an economist. You have to earn that title with a PhD.
He has a bachelors in economics, which is actually the worst case scenario because that’s just enough to be dangerous. The PhD is where you learn the subtleties, the flaws, the difficulties in showing causal relationships, etc.
^wow. That might be the first time someone on FB took a discussion and genuinely saw the other side. Kudos to you SC1. 🏆 Setting a good example of healthy debate, which is what this platform should encourage.

As a lawyer, the free speech argument is only a privilege you can use against government organizations. The gov cannot legally take away your right to free speech. Private markets have the right to revoke speech. These are not one in the same yet almost everyone I meet thinks free speech applies to everything. Nope. Only applies to gov organizations as in the gov cannot impose on your right to free speech.

My money is on the richest man in the world CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.
I knew he was going to start charging subscriptions, it’s the obvious way to go to make money, twitter is not for speech only, it’s the pimp for so many other platforms (from media to OF) and a pimp is asking for his commission! Soon IG will do the same.
What’s your point? Part of what was very misunderstood by people cheering on Elon is that he is absolutely the establishment. He’s the richest man in the world. Up to now Twitter has been mostly a venue for fairly grassroots speech and movements. That’s over now. Elon so hoping he can find a way to better monetize, but the Stephen King exchange beautifully illustrates the bind Elon is in- Elon assumed most blue check marks would pay for the platform, while the opposite is true and many content creators would normally expect to be paid for their services/content. I don’t particularly care what happens to Twitter, but it feels like only a matter of time until people migrate to other platforms.
