I’m a 3rd year associate at a regional firm, we primarily operate in the middle/upper middle market. The first has about 400 lawyers and I work out of a major city on the west coast. There has been a lot of discussions about raising associate comp and I’m curious about all of your input on what is market salary for an associate at my level given the info provided. Without having the formal education or PM experience, only my 5 years in QA experience. When I started I made $65k and have jumped to $78k. I have seen other companies post $100k+. Annual review is tomorrow. Should I fight for more or look for more somewhere else if I lose that fight?

Hello, I’m being offered a policy analyst position what is the typical range I should ask for. I’ve done research and it’s a wide range.

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.
