I’m about to go on my first strategic sourcing engagement, any good online resources that I could review to get primed on this space?

That’s a pretty broad topic. What’s the nature of the project? What are you supposed to be accomplishing for the client?

There are people who study supply chain/sourcing in college and spend their whole careers becoming experts, so it’s not something you’re going to pick up quickly. However, I’d suggest educating yourself on AT Kearney’s Seven Steps for Strategic Sourcing. It’s still the gold standard for understanding the foundational principles.

Also, make sure you educate yourself on the categories you are going to be working with. Understand suppliers in those categories, the market trends, and who (the client or supplier) holds the power in the relationship. If you’re being tasked with generating savings, you’ll need to understand where the client has leverage.

Hope that helps.

BTW, what role will you be filling on the project?

A good friend of mine graduated from Parsons this past summer, has degrees in Journalism and French, is a talented photographer and designer (which I feel I have a pretty decent eye for after working at a design-driven branding agency for half a decade). Any advice for her and/or shops/hiring managers/non-traditional job hunt tips to steer her towards?

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about compensation structure at Allspring, or any opinions on the culture there. I would be in Charlotte.
