Obviously. That's the only reason to lateral. Your career is a long-term game. If temporarily stagnating via lateral move sets you up for future success, you do it.

Less of a lateral and more of a half step up, in my opinion. Don’t pay too much attention to always needing to move up. Sometimes that “lateral” move will do more for you than waiting around for something else.
Different things work for different people. I think certain people are crazy for chasing the money when the responsibility and work far outweigh what they make. Happy to be comfortable, and honestly happy for whatever anybody wants to do.
Yes—I’m actually trying to find a lateral role. I want to learn something new and I’ve learned this is likely the only way to get a decent raise at my company (even if it’s only like $10k more)
