I need your immediate help for Barclays, i am in the middle of the interview process for Barclays Pune/Mumbai, I have heard that they do check Credit Report for all roles as a part of their Pre employment screening (May be stage 1).
Is that correct?
Can someone please check their Background screening report and confirm?
I think they use Hireright as their 3rd part agency but not sure.

One of my friends, he made a switch just 6 months back hoping he would get a better work environment a better package, but now he is just frustrated with the working environment, being a backend developer he has been asked to just fix bugs for almost 5 months now and that too in javascript without any KTs or any other trainings when he clearly did mention in the interview that he does not have prior knowledge on javascript.

What should he do? Any suggestions?

How long does it take EY GDS to hire? I've applied for some positions (bcom fresher) on June last week. I'm holding an offer from MakeMyTrip and another offer from OlaElectric. Ninjacart is willing to make me an offer. But they're saying that they'd discuss the offer only after the other company that I'm interviewing with has come up with an offer first. There's been a delay from HRs of the companies in a similar way. How do I urge them to send me the offer letter without sounding pushy? I had reached out to some of the HRs myself. Would that be too awkward if I accept & back out their offer?

I informally accepted a position at Silicon Valley Bank, after attempting to negotiate a higher wage, the recruiter advised this wasn't a possibility. However, while completing the background check I received another offer from Wells Fargo. The SVB position most aligns with my career objectives but the Wells Fargo position pays more (13k difference). I want the SVB position however I would like to leverage the Wells Fargo position to negotiate a higher salary. Any suggestions on strategy?

Is it only me who straight out after joining as a fresher had been put on a hot pan of engagements here and there within one month of joining?

Is it normal for senior managers to ask you to cancel leaves or to nit apply leaves in EY GDS? My manager told in all hands meeting yesterday to not apply leaves during tear end. Won’t this become a hr issue?

Is it a fail of character leaving biglaw? I want to leave, but despite the constant stress and suffering, I can’t avoid feeling like it’s my fault or that maybe I’m over exaggerating how I feel. My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

Let’s talk speed reading. I’m a slow reader and listened to a podcast recently on speed reading. I’m intrigued. Who here speed reads? How did you learn those skills, and what types of documents do you speed read in practice? I do mostly litigation and am thinking that speed reading would help with research but maybe not things like doc review where you need to review for both responsiveness and privilege.

Were you anxious when you first started in biglaw? Any advice for a first year who is worried about getting laid off & feels the pressure to try best in every assignment to get work?

What does it mean if there’s a NEP at the firm who’s been there for a long time (20+ years), but never got promoted to EP? Never held leadership roles too. Does it usually mean EPs does not like the NEP enough to get promoted?

The NEP has a book of business, though no idea how much it brings in.
