I think we all feel that way sometimes. If work were fun and easy, they probably wouldn't pay us, lol. You don't always have to love your dream job or your dream industry. Sometimes it's just enough to get through the day.
Yeah true, I’ve always been in the camp of it’ll always be a job, would be nice to enjoy it a lot too.
That’s when I have to have a serious talk with myself and figure out what is causing the uncertainty. Jumping into something else could be a much needed change, or something that is more of the same.
Yeah the change is always nice, I hate stagnation and doing something new is great.
I’ve been searching for my ‘dream’ role for a few years since university- I’m now in the industry but it’s going to take a while to move up but if you have aspirations then stick with it and see what happens!
Yeah true it also says something to stick to it! It can be draining though sometimes.
I've been able to stick with my dream role for 20 years and sometimes it's stressful but generally it has been 'fun and easy' as someone put down earlier but that is because I work in my interest and passion. Industry changes, mass layoffs and relocating to an area where my skills are not helpful has created uncertainty.
What I am doing is taking a good break down of what my skills acutally are and they're not all 'creative' but technical which can translate over to other industries with some training. If you have an income great this is where you can put the effort in to learn or pivot those strengths into other jobs and careers.
That’s so lucky! Yeah I think I need to analyse what my best skills are and if I want to use them in the future.
There's an idea that we can each define an "A" job, "B" job, "C" job etc. A being the one you'd LOVE to have and which would fulfill personal goals, visions etc AND pays great. B is maybe a stepping stone to that A job. and C job pays the bills, isn't terrible, and you know that it's temporary (or plan for that anyway).
