Absolutely! Just because it's free doesn't mean it's low quality. Depending on the work you do, you may need more specialized audio software to get the job done. For many professionals though, Audacity does more than enough. It also has an awesome, helpful community build around it.
Just because it's beginner-friendly, it doesn't mean that it's only meant for beginners. Plenty of the audio engineers I've shadowed before still make use of Audacity. The interface is great and easy to navigate. That quality can very well catch up with other expensive programa.

I don't really know of any of my professional peers who use Audacity now aside from when they were starting out. It's a great audio interface for beginners because it's pretty easy to navigate.

For simpler tasks yes. You can actually use it for audio and voice recording and you can even install plugins in there. Great for beginners!
