The best way to find film investors is to have a solid understanding of your film FROM a film investor's perspective. Film Investors do not post their emails online waiting for Independent Filmmakers to contact them. If they did, they would get hundreds of unsolicited emails per day.
They are also not scouring message boards, or on social media sites. Very few, if any, are on crowdfunding sites, either. So you have to track them down..and you do that by having an offer to make.
Finding people who invest in films is not as simple as saying to someone, “talk to your dentist.” There is a lot more to the process. To find investors, you need to find a way of making yourself stand out from all the other film producers who are also looking for money.
Reaching out to people in your network is one of the easier things you can do to find film investors. And for some reason, people don’t want to do it. You need to ASK. Ask everyone.
Go to film festivals. Mix and mingle with people. The best way to find investors is to network.
Networking and by going to festivals, gathering and proposals. But the first two are the most popular ways.
