I’m an American in the UK, with no plans to move back to the US. I would like to have life insurance policy in case something happens to myself or my spouse while our children are young. Currently we have life insurance through my employer, but I’d like to get a separate policy for about 20 years that covers me even if I get laid off, etc. What would this type of policy be called in the UK and are there insurance markets to shop around? In the US this area is flooded with hucksters.
