Have you talked to a manager at the storage company? Maybe you can work out a payment plan.
Sorry to hear what happened to you and the struggles you’re going through. I found out the storage payment can be put on a promise to pay. I’m just not sure where it’s coming from yet. My fundraiser has only been getting comments from “fundraising experts.”

Do you have any family that can help you hold the important items? And purge the rest? Or maybe try to sell the rest on marketplace
They might, but I had to move in with them and they’re far from the area where my storage unit is. Not sure when they can drive me there. I planned to switch to a storage unit where I’m at now if all goes well.
I literally was just in a similar situation. I called Uhaul to get the late fees waived but I couldn’t get the lien waived. But no late fees drastically reduced how much I owed. Then I just went through all my contacts in my phone (professional or not) and told them my situation. It was embarrassing and I did also receive some odd responses (one person thought it was a Nigerian Prince scam), but eventually an old colleague of mine from 2018 offered to pay. I was so shocked. It sounds like a long shot but give it a try.

I got an extension until 4/30. If I don’t find a new job in time to get a paycheck by then or it’s not enough, I’m hoping my tax return arrives in time. I couldn’t do direct deposit, since my bank account is too below 0 & need my full refund. I owe $325 to storage for the April balance + late fee + May payment.
I’m so happy to hear that you got an extension! Your refund should definitely come before the 30th!
Ran out of character space, but wanted to add that I wasn’t sure what community bowl to post this in.

Ill pick this for you.
Well, after my small tax return from an office assistant job last year, then a 1-week office job in May and an in-store appointment setting job for which I had to walk around for 7 hours a day and I can no longer do as I began limping constantly, I was able to maintain my storage unit for a little while. Now, money is about to run out again. I can’t seem to find the right type of work long-term and for enough pay to do better than scrape by. I’m stressed out about trying to get a plastic storage shed to prevent losing my belongings that are still in my storage unit. But I’d need a 10x20 and can’t afford it. There’s no room where I live and would also need to rent a moving truck, which would cost $40 + 99c per mile, and it’s 100 miles each way between the storage unit and my new address. When I first had to move everything to a storage unit on a deadline, I didn’t know I’d end up moving 100 miles away. I was facing homelessness until the last minute on my eviction date of Feb. 8. So, once again, I’m facing loss of all of my belongings, which include family history items. This follows my parents passing away a few years apart, then being evicted out of my apartment after only a year because of my job search results. I need a new computer soon; a tech guy said mine is too old to even transfer important files and that they won’t work on a new system, so I’m going to lose them. I need to get mechanical repairs done on my 25-yo car. I might have to junk it, yet I can’t get approved for a loan for another car. Something has to change NOW because I don’t know what to do at this point. Everything I own, my family history, depends on someone hiring me.
