I’m hitting a wall with the COL in NYC and eyeing a move to a secondary market like Charlotte or Austin. My biggest fear is the "out of sight, out of mind" thing and whether it's real for carry and exits. I want to know if anyone is actually thriving in PE outside the Tier 1 hubs, or does leaving the city effectively kill your career momentum?

I attended a client interview last week and was selected for the same. Now they are asking to join within a day or two. I'm having my mom's surgery this week. How to safely refuse to join this client project for at least 10 days. I can't take leave for 10 days.

Any firms have a focus on Aerospace and Defense industries? Headhunters always reach out about tech and healthcare firms (as well as more generalist ones), which are great but I’m just not that interested. Only find a few with significant A&D exposure.
