I’m in Healthcare M&A at a BB, and I feel like I don’t fully grasp the context of what I do. I’m so caught up executing the details (comps, formulas, charts) that I don’t spend enough time understanding the rationale behind pitches/deals. Recently, in an interview, I was asked about a deal and to give peers, and I realized I don’t fully understand the differences between generics, OTC, different drugs etc. Is this normal in the first year? How can I balance this with doing the job efficiently?

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

Looking for advice: I have an analyst (9 months on the job) who still doesn’t get it - repeatedly misses comments, doesn’t follow instructions, slow, etc. I have raised this to both my MDs and they seem to be adopting a “not my problem” approach when I mention it.
