I'm not sure what area you're looking for, but most of big law in Texas, particularly the Texas-based big law firms, regularly take people outside of T-14 law schools. I went to University of Houston (ranked 60 I think?) and I'm at a V50. Pretty much anyone in the top 20% at my school got into big law if they wanted it.
You’ll likely have more luck targeting biglaw offices in the Midwest (I.e., the ones with alums from your school). I’d stick with those if possible. But if you’re in corporate most firms are fair game for top 10%/LR laterals right now. They need bodies and the barrier to entry is much lower at the moment (save for the most elite firms).
Agree with the above comment about targeting offices in the Midwest. I’m in big law in the Midwest (Chicago office) and while we have plenty of attorneys from T-14 schools, I think the trend is moving away from that, particularly for laterals. I graduated outside of T-14 at a regional Midwest firm and wasn’t even in the top 10% of my class, but was able to lateral during my 5th year based on a strong referral from an old coworker/friend and the substantive experience I had from my prior jobs at smaller, regional firms. Might also depend on your practice area, but I wouldn’t be discouraged solely because you didn’t go to a T-14 school. Good luck!
I'm in the SF bay area market at a prestigious firm which is known to be on the more selective side (but not the tippy top of that pile) and you would be fine. We care more about grades than school name. Of course, query how good either of those signals are.
