This partner I like and work for often gave me the most lukewarm review, very bummed

What did they say? Maybe you’re being hard on yourself. Did they never bring up any of the critiques in person?

like

It was just a lot more like, I’ve seen “x” type of work from her and it meets expectations, etc.

Was it lukewarm, or were there just specifics that you need to improve? A lot of times, people who don’t actually care about your development will just check the boxes and say you’re great at everything, while not giving any feedback that you can actually use. People who genuinely want you to develop so that they can keep working with you and have you get better and better will give you more substantive feedback. it’s annoying of them to do so in a review, but if the review wasn’t actually bad, I think it’s fine

like

I agree

There may be pressure for a lot of reviews to be lukewarm this season. But yes, not fun. Sorry. Ask them to tell you straight up if it’s a sign to move on or if there are things you can do to improve your performance.

like

@of counsel 1: Who hurt you?

In all seriousness, your advice is an overreaction without more context.

Some partners just give lukewarm reviews to everyone. OP may interpret any constructive feedback as lukewarm. Etc.

need advice.

I have been working in an interim role as a portfolio manager. I was promised that the role would be mine. However, after doing the job for 2 months, I have been advised that we might not get the funding for the role and I might not get the raise and the title but my responsibilities will be the same.

Its a political minefield.

How should I back out elegantly that I need to be compensated fairly and competitively from this mess without burning any bridges

Need some advice. During May of 2021 an operations manager and an hourly Hr employee started a relationship while the ops manager was married. We had supervisors give us pictures of those two kissing at workFast forward they are now engaged and getting married. The HR worker does not work here anymore since July 2021. Is it too late to investigate the ops manager for misconduct ? The ops manager has worked here for 15 years and is super valuable, the operation literally can not run without him.

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

How often do you respond to emails from law students who want to learn about your firm/practice area? I get like a dozen requests right around OCI every year. Frankly I’m tired of speaking to them and answering the same boring questions, especially if I know they have a low GPA and no chance of summering at my firm, but I do feel bad saying no/ignoring them

I'm a new joinee in MSFT.

People in my team they don't come with me for breaks. (They blame the timings are different since they sit in crits but i don't think so because they have their own group of friends to go with)

Secondly, when my team members see me in cafeteria we expect they'll sit with us but people here are being rude they directly go and sit with their friends they don't call you to join. ( atleast they could have said they are accompanied)

What does it mean if you get feedback such as “know the room better?” I came across a team email that was addressed to my account team, and I approached my boss about my response to it. Then he gave me this feedback and told me not to engage in the conversation. Funny thing is a strategy lead just responded back to the team with the exact response I came up with, and my boss agreed with her...

SP mentally checked out, to the point that co-counsel was asking what SP was doing/if SP was okay. I ended up handling most everything. Do I tell someone at my firm? Don’t want to offend SP or cause drama, but I’m concerned.
