I’m learning that you can always find flaws in the companies you work for. It’s easier to do that than to find reasons to stay, to find contentment in the work you do. I hope you are able to find contentment too, fishbowl comrades. Have a relaxing weekend.

There is always going to be something you don't love about the company you were for. You are right, you have to be able to find contentment. Thank you for sharing this! Have a great weekend.

And thank you for commenting it! Hope you carry that forward to others you speak to

Thanks, hope you enjoy your weekend. It's true that it's always easier to find fault. It's just part of human nature, I suppose, things can be going pretty well, but we'll always find something that aggravates us. It's best to have some perspective and not go all in on negativity.

I agree. Glass half full mentality!

I’m new to the cybersecurity industry, professionally speaking (I did/do a lot for family and close friends). I’ve completed a boot camp, which I regret doing. What would you suggest that I do to get my first entry level position?

Additional Posts in Software Engineering

Hi all - just joining and looking for some guidance! I am currently in an IT internship position (making pretty solid money considering) and following this summer I will stay on part time during my senior year (discussing a full-time job offer after already). I’m getting my computer science degree, so I would like to do something more technical in the workplace when I graduate. How do I advocate myself for that to my manager without sounding unappreciative of the position I’m in?

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.
