I'm looking for advice on a recent job interview. Last Friday, I was told I'd hear back early this week. The HR manager updated me on Wednesday to say it would be several more weeks as they're still interviewing. This week, I saw a new, identical job posting for the role I interviewed for on LinkedIn. Could they be hiring for multiple same positions, or is this a sign I'm out of the running?

It could go either way, they could mean they need more people or they want to see more candidates. It’s smart to keep options open while waiting. Maybe check in next week to reaffirm your interest and get clarity, but don’t put all your eggs in that basket.

Both options are possible, to be honest! Often they hire multiple people at once. But there's no way to really say for sure. Just wait and hopefully you will hear back, but keep applying to other places in the meantime.

They won’t stop posting just because they have a hopeful candidate in the mix. There could also be multiple positions open. The nice thing is they told you it would be a few weeks, most places just leave you hanging and say nothing.

Serious question from a happy software engineer, what do you all love about your work/actually enjoy doing during working hours?

I'll start; I'm privileged enough to have been given the opportunity to work and learn deeply on Linux and Kubernetes, and I get to tinker and play with them all day. Problem solving with them is a "fun" part of my job.

Of course most things aren't roses and sunshine, but I'd love to hear the positive parts of what you are doing, or what you like to do at work.
