I was in dentistry for 14yrs as a certified dental assistant. I had to go to school and get a degree to do this. Now the lab you don't need a degree and can be taught. However there isn't good pay in that, unless you have some really great experience. I would say you would make anywhere between $15-18 and hour. But if you went to school for dental assistance, your looking at anywhere between $16- 28 and hr. Of course more experience=more pay. But with all that being said, you could still make more money grooming. But if money isn't an issue and your really done with grooming. Hey give it a shot, and good luck! 😊
Thank you so much for the information!
Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems unlikely that you could simply move from being a pet stylist to working in a dental lab. I would assume you'd need some education or training to make that kind of pivot. While you're getting that training I think you'll probably be able to get informed about what the pay is like.
I’m sorry, I read that wrong, I thought you were a veterinary assistant. Still you have experience in customer service and scheduling which is a huge factor for you because you will be a fast learner in other areas since you strive at the other areas. Sorry for any confusion.

what qualifications are needed for the dental lab? if its a training period w lower pay that then will increase, I could see that being really appealing!
There are some lower pay no experience needed jobs to get my foot in the door. I'm just curious when they say the pay is $16/hr should I ask for more initially or ask what the pay increase is expected to be over time?
