Biggest pro for me is just being in the middle of it all. I love the hustle of the city.
Do you mean in a borough of London (zones 3 outwards) or somewhere like reading?
I live in zone 4 and feel like I’m close enough to all the action but get to come back to a quiet and safe neighbourhood. The major pro is lower transport cost and a faster commuter. The con is it is expensive
Pro - lots of things to do around and always active be it day or night. Plenty of day trips can be done from London. Travel is easier as most flights are from London. Don’t need a car as transportation is great. Highest salaries are in London, most suburbs are a flat 15-25% lower for the same level and work. Lots of options to eat, visit and a lot of job opportunities. Very multicultural.
Con - Expensive for housing and flats are quite smaller relative to what you are used to in Canada. It’s hard making friends so can get lonely. Most people are busy with their own lifestyles and Brits have a reputation for being polite and friendly and will grab a few pints after work, but are quite close knitted to their own social groups from uni/school and rarely see new entrants in them.
