Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

I would check your employee handbook for specific language. For example, our company states that vacation cannot be taken after an employees submits their resignation, even if already approved. There might be some lenience is your case, because you gave a full month’s notice, instead of the usual two weeks, but that is how we do things.
To answer your final question, I don’t believe there is any regulation that fits your specific situation. But typically, employers and exiting employees want to end the relationship on a positive note, so I would recommend trying to talk through it with them.
@ HR Generalist. I’m politely trying to sort this out but they are not willing to change their decision on that. I wonder who would want to work for them if I post something on Glassdoor about their slavery policy for their employees in this great resignation era
Point of clarification - Did you give 30 days but the last two weeks are over the holidays, and they’re saying you should just be done after the first two weeks?
Do you have unlimited PTO?
If you don’t have unlimited PTO, they will pay out your PTO anyway so I wouldn’t stress about this. If you do have unlimited, this is their prerogative and though it sucks, it’s the risk you take quitting in December! Id see if new company will let you start sooner.
What state are you in? Laws vary.
