I would take it as it’s a substantial pay increase and you never know where it may lead. You can always leave later and now you have a new baseline salary of $120k
One thing to consider... the hours expectations in PE have to be the only industry I’ve heard of that’s actually worse than consulting. Might be worth discussing WLB with people in PE first.
Take it and worst case you come back at a higher level and higher pay
Take it... you might not see a number that high anytime soon
What are you not interested in? The role, the company, the industry?
Unpopular opinion, but don't take a role you're not interested in. Did it once and was gone in less than 6 months. It wasn't completely wasted time, but I would have been better off waiting for a better aligned role. Didn't like what I was doing and it was very stressful. How is this role and salary comparable to another role you might interview for?
If you have a very specific career plan and this helps further it, that's okay. For example, your goal is to get your MBA. You can use that to pivot anyone and you'll have extra money to pay for it. Downside is that you lose years exploring roles you might like and risk wasting your post MBA jump power on a role or industry you don't like.
I highly recommend figuring out what your exit opportunities are within the company, to another company, if you get a degree, etc. If you spend a year on a role you don't like and it doesn't get you anywhere near where you want to go, what's the point?
(Cont.) even if it’s not something I’m interested in? Will I get pigeon-holed for the rest of my career? Will I have worse opportunities regarding an MBA?
OP, would you mind sharing how you came across this opportunity?
Sure, headhunter from a search firm reached out on LinkedIn, and after a few brief phone screens I got the opportunity to interview
