My biggest challenge was asking questions or for help. I wanted to prove they had made a good choice in me, so I didn’t want to admit that I didn’t know some things. This is the biggest mistake we all make as new teachers.

I didn't and still don't like asking questions for the same reason. I am always hesitating to ask questions because of the impatient look one of our administrators gets on her face when someone asks things.

I think the hardest part of being a newbie was learning how to navigate the hierarchy of the groups. I am thankful for my mom who mentored me in the does and don't of learning the ropes at my first job (she had taught at the school for 9 years, so she knew what to do). She helped me a lot.
For me it was hard to get used to dealing with some of the more overbearing parents. I had learned how to lesson plan, deal with students, and a lot of other important aspects of being a teacher but you can't really learn how to navigate some of the parents, you have to experience it.
