Asking for 87.5k would sure be good for a laugh!
But IMO if you want 90k you should ask for 95k.
Interesting I didn’t even need to negotiate. I always assume it’s the recruiter’s job to get you as cheap as possible. Band was 80-95, asks for 90 and they gave it to me no questions asked. Now I’m wondering if I left money on the table even though I’m very happy with this number.
You want 90k so why ask for 88k and lowball yourself against their anchor? Counter at 93k (10% more than the offer) so you can compromise at 90k if needed.
Take 85 but add a week of PTO
I always stick to my number. But this market is different, so it’s a call you’ll have to make. They are probably expecting you to do exactly what you stated.
It would be stupid to lose a candidate over $5k. I would stick with the $90k.
