Above and beyond PTO - having a baby is not a vacation. 3-4 months paid will be standard for parental leave at most firms. Some states will have regulations for minimums regarding paid or unpaid time beyond FMLA.
If you’re a small firm it certainly can be tough to maintain client coverage, combined with the loss in revenue while maintaining the same payroll expense. That being said, turnover is costly too and it can make strategic hiring more difficult if your policy isn’t comparable to firms in your market.
Thanks. Very helpful info.
12 weeks paid for maternity and paternity, and it also applies to staff.
We do twelve weeks fully paid maternity. Haven’t yet but we need to have a parenting leave policy as well
16 weeks maternity, 2 weeks paternity
Is that 16 weeks paid?
Thanks for the responses so far. Is this above and beyond PTO or do they have to use PTO as part of this?
