In between jobs again after being let go from my call center job. Relieved honestly because getting yelled at 6 in the morning was pushing me off the edge. Now is continuing the hunt. I’m okay with a lower level job. I just want to find a job where my boss doesn’t yell at me. Leadership is where my mind cracks as they simply lack empathy.

It's really weird how some managers think screaming or yelling at an employee is acceptable. My friend worked for a screamer of a boss for a few months and ended up in a hospital. What you dealt with crushes souls and I'm sorry you even had to go through that in this day and age. You deserve to be treated in a professional manner and I hope your next job does that.

Sorry to hear about your previous job situation! Is it typical of Call Center managers to treat their employees like that? I feel like I've heard of multiple different people who have had the same experience, and it blows my mind because I feel like it's pretty rare to see that kind of behavior in 2024. I wouldnt' stand for someone yelling me, so I hope that your next manager treats you a lot bette!!

Sorry that you guys hace had to deal with that kind of toxic environment. I have been pretty fortunate in that regards with the current job i have. My manager has some skin in the game and has been active at all levels of engineering so he completely understands and values the concept of development, testing, and implementing our process controls on our production lines. He gives us realistic time expectations but will certainly hold us to it which is fine by me. Im just here for support as i have been in the situation that some of you are in now and i completely understand what its like to work for someone that has zero people skills that treats his direct reports like garabge. Im telling you all to keep positive and keep pushing… if you are in a toxic work enivorment start to plan your exit. If are currently employed do your best to keep the job or assignment until you secure that next position. If you are currently on the search without a job please be open to new fields and taking less pay until you can find the “right” place with the right people. If a prospective job comes up and you make to the interview process and they seem interested ask to meet the other team memebers. If you can get the contacts of the ones that seem open and talkative. You would be surprised what you can find out with just a sinmple conversation.. everything im mentioning I have perosnally done myself and it has helped me grab the right opportunity at the time.. doesnt matter if it was short term or for the long haul.. just use whatever you can to find out about whatever the job and the management are really about. Im here if you need to talk or need any other helpful advise. I also have a close friend who is a career coach that helps his cleints land those great jobs in the technical field especially data science field. I have not personally used his services because he is close childhood friend but i can tell you from the words from a few of his clients that he has done some absolute brillang work in coaching and prepping them for interviews along with the actual job placement. I am not here to sell his product in anyway, im just speaking from a perspective of knowing him and some of the results others have had. Outside of that im perosnally here to if you ever just want to talk or help you get through a tough rut in the job search. Good luck to you all! Im rooting for you guys!

Would also love to maybe take you for a meal or alike to thank you for it :) Google

Internship Program Help: Hi Everyone! I’ve never worked for a company with any type of internship program at all, let alone a really successful one. My new company thrives off our internship program, with many of our managers/directors having started as one themselves. I’d like to create more of a structure to this program but not even really sure where to begin. Also don’t want to bite off more than I can chew, but would love to hear some tips or even better, maybe have a quick chat if willing?

Hey team! So I was laid off from my SDR position about a week ago. A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out? I applied to other positions in the same company. What about reaching out to previous co workers at a different company? Not sure how to navigate this… please help. Also I’m sorry if this is the wrong bowl to post in.

Hi everyone. I was a solution engineer at Oracle. I graduated from college in May and this was my first job out of college so the lay offs were pretty rough. I majored in Supply chain management and I have 2 internships under my belt. Do you guys have any advice or tips on what to do moving forward? I would like to stay in tech and I’m giving it a few weeks before I start pivoting to more traditional supply chain roles. Thanks.

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭
