I think the best option at hand is to start upskilling and try outside .. Staying in a place where you aren’t respected, won’t be fruitful in long term ..
My god, recently their HR approached me for senior role and as background check came across https://www.reddit.com/r/pune/comments/1r8bnuu/layoff_at_citi_pune/
although package was good but after looking at their reviews, and layoffs targeted by CEO in 2026, I asked HR on those issues for which didn't get any satisfactory replies.
So many red flags so decided to let go this opportunity.
My advice: Lotus in mud doesn't have any value, find a place where it's given appropriately.

It’s very normal in citi and it should change. I have faced this too.
I haven't heard anyone using such abusive language at Pune, though there are other ongoing practices that need to be highlighted.
This must be at Gurgaon location of citi.

Faced this kind of toxic culture in TCS previously. Not to the point where they become abusive (Manager didnt have the guts to do so cause they would've learnt some new cuss words from their reportees though😄).
But when I experienced the toxicity rising day by day and not getting good hikes where others were getting promoted and good hikes.
I just dropped resignation post getting the band.
3 months NP served and gave multiple interview and got into another company.
Best decision made by me at that time. It changed everything. I got a good project and good people to work with.
Helpful people and learnt humbleness and how to be grateful and help people etc etc.
Which was never the case in TCS.
So sometimes you have to take those decisions which will help you grow.

May be this is better because you know this person is toxic and enemy..when you can't understand the intention of someone's sugar coated words like " believe me I try my best for you but it's upper management decision so I can't do anything.....will see in next appraisal cycle....I know you are. Hitting hard" , I push for you from my side....these words are dangerous I must say.
So you meant to say instead of being diplomatic,and using sugar coated word manager should directly say "** ka bal ** me dal"? Hope you are not following this practice.
This can happen only in India
This should stop many people are going through difficult phase as Indian policy not support not to involve in personal space
I was working with Citi there was a managing director came from usa and 3 people presented about solution to him and he was impressed
When it comes to appreciation the manager gave award to some other guy who didn’t present anything
And she added that this award is because this guy got projector for presentation from directors cabin omg
Another one was a candidate got promoted and when the other guys was more deserving ask this the manger replied that the candidate is getting promoted because she know all the people on the floor after that the deserving guy started to talk to anyoneon floor for presence even in washmroom he was talking to different team but then he got Ijp to London
I have seen Such managers in Citi but such banks are good for people who are not technically sound and know how to be in good books of manager
Tbh anonymously record the phone calls if it happens through phone there are apps for it but if it's through teams or slack or Google meet you're out of luck. These managers need to be fired
