Wait so let me get this straight. You didn't like the crowds at the train station/airport so you don't like the entirety of NYC? Literally nobody likes the crowds in those places. Do you think New Yorkers just like hanging out in Penn Station?? 😂😂 but agreed with @S1 on rent 💸
I currently live in Chicago and love that it's humble and affordable but still vibrant.
But i used to live in NY and it's incredible in so many ways. It's chic, cultured, and honest. Once you figure out how to navigate the city it's ultra convenience at your fingertips. For example if you get hangry, much easier to solve in NY than anywhere else - delivery is fast and a million places open 24 hours
Also, some things are extremely affordable (e.g., manicures)!
I honestly like the filth of NYC.
Lol @ all of this
Everyone, your cities are so beautiful and amazing. Nothing is wrong with them. You made the right choice with your life.
We good?
Op, you sound like a staffer with relatively low experience in the world. Do yourself and us a favor by having a more open mind. Experience life without comparing it to some idea in your head of how it aught to be, you will realize that you had no clue what life is like.
I don't live in NYC. I just think it is absolutely ridiculous to judge an entire city based on your experience... like trying spam and saying you don't understand why people eat meat.
You're gross and crowded
@E2, Chicago's winter is only like 3 months and isn't even that much colder than NYC. Also the rest of the year is so beautiful with the lake. And NYC people are always soooooo obsessed with NYC.
Going back to Kansas OP?
Troll
I love the wonder of NYC, in all it's glorious grittiness. But agree, it's not for everyone
@D4, what in this shows a lack of empathy? I literally asked why people like this smelly crowded city. Not my fault that apparently most NYC people are jerks who decided to post snarky retorts instead of gush about the good things about NYC. Also, NYC is allowed to get some flack since it is one of the most loved cities. Not like I'm making fun of Detroit here...

Give me London over NYC every day. OP I moved out of NYC asap. People who love it also love to hate it but it's like that whole sibling thing, only you can make fun of your sibling. I'm with you. It's Terrible and smells like trash everyday
They just following what society expects if you.
@P1 probably your willingness to respond to trolls
It's certainly not for everyone to live there but I think it's impossible to travel to NY and honestly not find anything you like.
@BCG1, judging manhattan mainly. people are obsessed with manhattan. Drove through a good bit and not a fan. Of course even in Chicago I wouldn't want to live anywhere south of Gold Coast. Too densely populated
@E3 Been to nearly 30 countries, including studied/lived abroad multiple times, and obviously have traveled to many cities for work.... also what's a staffer?
@OP For someone who's traveled a lot, you sure don't have a lot of empathy for other points of view.
Then again, perhaps they, too, are a bit hangry
Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul ... an amazingly stark contrast to living in NY, with most of the same amenities and diversity (ESP. SG) and, in most cases, less stress, cleaner, better internet - I do miss the sports... and the steaks
