Yes I found Glassdoor to be low when I was interviewing as well. Wouldn’t rely on that range for your anchor point. 200k+ for Director level role is reasonable
I honestly think most exits are a pay cut overall... Esp if you're transitioning from Manager to sr manager or junior director level. Some exceptions (see: FAANG) but otherwise it's probably lateral at best total comp wise (salary, signing , stock, perf bonus)
Glassdoor always way low IMO. Focus on selling your value and make your expectations pretty clear as you approach comp conversations.
...a cut that big right now (student loans). Any idea how to approach the conversation? I’m currently at 170+30. Looking for them to match but don’t know where to begin.
Also, has anyone interviewed and found Glassdoor estimates to be way under what was offered?
Yes Glassdoor can be off by a bit. I would suggest connecting with the recruiter to talk salary. They will either ask you your range or tell you theirs. If they don’t already know your salary or don’t want to discuss/unwilling to have the discussion, proceed with caution. Salaries are often role/position specific and based on market data and internal equity, so they should know their range. Glassdoor may not be giving a full picture as it isn’t based on the company’s actual job positions. It is only what individuals put in as their titles/salaries and not everyone at all levels are submitting their data. Hope this helps
