It’s been happening for 15 years, where have you been?
It’s a cycle, man. Right now a lot of the city is getting rebuilt, gentrified, however you choose to describe it. In 20 years, those places will likely be the cool older neighborhoods. For now, go to AdMo, Mount Pleasant, Cleveland Park, etc. if you want less of a big box feel 🤷🏻♂️
I agree with you for the intensely gentrifying neighborhoods, like NoMa and around Union Market. But if you go to older neighborhoods, it's still the DC you're reminiscing. Think Glover Park, Cleveland Park, Tenleytown, etc
Stoneys, and the Vegas lounge next door. Been going to those for 20 years.
Covid did a number on this too. But this is why I’ve never cared for the Navy Yard type neighborhoods. Generic City, USA
