I don’t think people will be replaced. I think AI is a tool, and we, as legal professionals, are the pilots.
Curious why you stay that. What about super intelligence? That’s in the works right now.
I don’t see law firms (especially BigLaw) ever replacing paralegals with AI - there are too many attorneys being sanctioned by courts. I do not think AI was intended to replace people. It’s a great tool to become proficient with because it can save time. I use it to proofread what I draft and that has been a game-changer - it still keeps my writing style & basically just cleans it up and takes out extra words. I’ve found it especially helpful if drafting a long petition or even discovery in complex fact-intensive case. PROOFREAD & CHECK EVERY SINGLE CITE - including rules!!
There was a similar thing when e-discovery first started rolling out. Now you have people who have specialty in e-discovery. It’s going to be another tool to help work done. At my firm we use AI to start graphs or charts but it’s still my responsibility to review the work to ensure accuracy.

Yeah, I bought a book just for that ”e-discovery”. I received eye rolls when I did that.
I think a paralegal who knows how to work with AI will be very much in demand

So basically we need to learn the trade of the tool.
I'm not. You're not wrong about its rapid advancement, but can you think of a single safe haven industry that WON'T be impacted by AI? Because I sure can't. I'm nervous about the future, but I'd rather take my chances continuing in this field than wind up in an "out of the frying pan, into the fire" situation.
True. I was thinking about that. Makes sense what you are saying!
No, think of AI as another tool to get work done a bit quicker but it could never replace a mind of a human being. Using AI cautiously is also recommended because it does not know or replace knowledge in this industry.

That is what an attorney stated. He advised against relying on AI. He stated AI is just a tool. I have to agree.
Honestly tho, the way my firm is “Reorganizing” AKA Laying Off.. AI can have it! They’re consolidating positions and working the heck out of everyone. I’m so done ✌️
Right!!! I’m tryna figure out if I should get out now or wait
Legal professionals will still be legal professionals, but also pilots of AI. This is what I am building at www.atlex.ai
I personally know that people in leadership and hiring positions in firms are expecting AI to be able to do a lot of paralegal work in the next 5-10 years. Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen, but I bet it will bear out in hiring trends regardless
I do believe it. We have the technology it just hasn’t been rolled out fully
Well I’m saying this because the experts and safety persons of ai say our jobs will indeed be replaced with ai and that the legal field will be hard hit. We already got the talk about my boss finding us “more work” so I know it’s coming. I feel like I’m the only one who believes it will replace the majority of us quickly. I guess we will see what happiness in the next 2 years
Yall would be surprised with how well chat gbt does deep research. It’s crazy. It’s advancing every day and does better work faster than a human. Just wait for AGI. See what’s out there and you might change your mind
