Great opportunity , worked opposite them a few times and they seem intense. Can u share the proposed salary for our benefit?
If it helps, my friend who has 2 yoe as a RE paralegal recieved a job offer from Orrick. 100k, fully remote, paid hourly and OT is likely. Feel like 125 is on the low end for big law in NY though.
My last year in big law with 7 YOE as a RE Para, I made 150k.
Good luck!
Damn I’m tempted to switch into real estate. In products liability lit currently but not making anywhere near that much.
Is that even a question? Give yourself a chance to earn more. Make the move and stop playing hard to get.
It’s a question because I’d rather not work in a miserable sweatshop. My last firm was filled with a bunch of overworked misfits and that started to creep into my personal life and I’m pretty sure my wife nearly divorced me because I was so miserable at my last firm and I’d rather not repeat that. Even if it means passing up more money and potential career advancement.
I’ve heard unflattering things about their culture here in Chicago, specifically about corporate and real estate. Remember, the higher salary is great but understand what likely comes with it (more taxes, more responsibilities, longer hours most likely, etc).
Agreed and that’s sort of what I’m trying to balance. My last firm was absolutely terrible and I’m pretty happy where I am currently (and making more than my last firm). I guess what I’m questioning is whether the higher salary is worth the culture change and the headache that’ll come with it.
