Is healthcare dying as a career… or just being pushed to its limit?
Burnout is rising.
Staffing is low.
Pay often doesn’t match the workload.
And the emotional toll is real.
People aren’t leaving because they don’t care — they’re leaving because they’re exhausted and unsupported.
Still, many continue to show up every day, giving their all for others.
Healthcare isn’t failing because of its workers — it’s the system that’s strained.

Pushing its limit for sure. We are short staffed and forced to do the job of 2 or 3 people. This leads to burn out and turn over.

Not to mention it not being safe for the patient and the employees. I've actually heard of someone dying unattended in an ER bed or in the actual waiting rooms with other patients were around.

Healthcare, in general, is struggling because of constantly changing / intensifying regulatory requirements for which job descriptions have not been modified to accommodate. People think because of EMRs things are more "efficient" but that is not really the case when you try to hit "enter" and some regulatory guideline was not met in getting to that point. While technology can be assistive, it often requires as much attention (if not more) than the patients do.

There is neglect at the corporate level but the workers bear the brunt of everything that goes wrong. It’s not right.

Unreasonable family members is my biggest issue. Yes we car about our residents, but we can’t be with them 24/7 to watch every move they make. If you want that kind of care hire someone to come to your home and watch them. We do the best we can.

I’ve dealt with some difficult families as well, and it makes our jobs so much harder in the moment. We’re doing the best we can with what we’re given.

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. My main argument to choose blockchain is the easy entry with little experience and high salary, I plan on growing my skills during the bear market and get a job once the market recovers. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.
