Is it common for a firm to offer an equity partner a salary but then have a large percentage (30%) of it held back and paid out pending firm performance for the year? Received an offer with a nice base but it’s depleted extensively by that and other expenses I’d have to bear.

Sounds like that 30% is the equity portion of your comp. If the firm surpasses expectations, that 30% would increase and vice versa.

Withheld comp shouldn't depend on firm performance

😂

This structure is weird. Will the 30% be adjusted higher or lower depending on firm performance?

We are renovating a condo and the previous owner had two Crane toilets (not sure how old, but functioning although seals are old according to our contractor). Back outlet flour mount ones are the only options for the building, and one toilet can cost $300-$500.

We are redoing all the bathroom tiles and walls and debating what we should do with the two toilets. Would resealing the toilets extend the use life? Or should we just replace the toilets? Any other recommendations? TIA!!

Additional Posts in Ask A Recruiter - Law

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission?
