I think it's AI a little bit, probably about 15%. The other 85% is just the economy right now. There's so much up in the air economically and a lot of people are holding onto jobs instead of jobs hopping like they used to. And employers are nervous about increasing their numbers in case of a downturn. It's kind of a perfect (crap) storm.
The job market in general is quite bad. It’s not just you, there just aren’t as many openings as there were a couple of years ago.
Personally, I don’t think AI has negatively impacted PMM roles (yet). I use it for research and some tasks, but I feel like it’s helping me more than reducing my work.
AI is definitely shifting things around but it's not eliminating roles. PMMs should use AI to help them with their tasks that AI can't do. They can use it as a tool to help with speed and efficiency. I do think you'll need AI knowledge if you want to stay competitive.
