Yes - I’ve lost out on multiple opportunities because i didn’t apply as a team.
Even if they ask for just a writer, I always assure them I can come with a partner for pitches, concepting, etc.
💯
Very much so
Definitively yes
Yes
Good to know! Thanks
Pretty much apply as a team, unless it’s in-house. Most companies outside of agencies don’t get the art director/ copywriter model. And many times, they just want you to write websites or social or collateral material or product copy. The upside? It’s steady work. The downside? It’s grunt work.
👆this only ad agencies value the parter model, it’s good to mention you have a solid partner or a list of ADs you work with if they need a team. In-house, consultancies, production companies will more often just need you for copy or solo CD-ing depending on the SOW. For example I have a longtime partner I put forward on all my team gigs, I also have a list of other freelancers I work with if he’s booked or it seems like a role where they want options, and then I also take gigs solo.
Do you have a bunch of creatives on call to partner up with?

Hmm, how do you guys find those AD partners? I came from Europe and I always thought you never used to have the CW/AD partnerships like we did. We were a long term marriage, you were more of an open relationship, hooking up with whoever was available. Has that changed or was I just wrong?
