Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Yup. Reason #6 why freelance isn’t always so freeing. It’s great though when the ECD who brings you in wants to use your mind. That isn’t always the case though; and you can tell w/in the first 5 min.

I’m an INTJ.. I also struggle with being “over controlling” at times. It comes very natural to me. I barely notice it.
As a freelancer you’re really hired to do the job.. you’re supposed to be in-and-out. As a freelancer I might recommend a thing here or there when I see fit.. but I’m not hired to do that. I’m not there to cause ripples in the water. I’m not there to change the clients business org.. or improve their lack of inefficiency..
I just want to do the job, and get paid asap. In-and-out.
FreelanceBBDO1 has a good point.. you can tell in the first 5 min when the client wants to lean on you for your thoughts.
My favorite part of freelancing is just shutting up, doing the work, making my pay and going home. Ha.
Then you're a perfect freelancer! I like the freedom of freelancing but miss being more involved in planning and management.
I did. I went in house and now manage a team again and I finally feel alive.
Freelancing was fun and funding but unfulfilling.
I love managing early career creatives and seeing them find new corners of their minds. It’s thrilling.
Yeah, that's what I miss. I might have to go staff to get that again.
Seriously? As a cd? Damn
@SC1 Yes. So much yes it hurts.

It goes both ways. Sometimes you just wanna be the freelancer and focus on being creative, but because of your experience people invariably turn to you to lead.
