I was there in April and didn’t notice anything. Just be mindful. If you can convince them to use a cross body bag that lands in front of them, that is the safest. Don’t carry a purse or hand bag.
It can be in crows and touristy areas, but as most similar places in the world. Dont leave wallets or phones in pockets. Bags only with zippers or with zippered pockets for valuables. Keep bags close to the body. I’ve found they can target older tourists who are less likely to pay close attention/take measures…
Just keep your phone and wallet in your front pockets. I’ve solo traveled all over Europe and never had any issues.
This is the way
Most of these European pickpocketing hotspots are not anywhere near the risk that people like to claim.
Yes, and they are really good. They operate in groups so even if you catch the person doing the pickpocketing, your wallet has already moved off to someone else by the time you confront them. Happened to me in the Metro during rush hour, but luckily for me, the person with the wallet got stuck getting off the train and dropped the wallet. My lesson -- keep wallet in front pocket of tight (at least body hugging) trousers. Also be careful with shopping bags from name brand stores, we also had some perfume lifted from our seat in a tour bus, when we were drawn into conversation with some local folks (students they said, but they were likely distracting us). I also notice that locals keep their backpacks slung in front of them while on city buses, we started doing this towards the end of our trip as well.
Nah, just beware of those people in the metro dressed in hoodies and sweatpants. They are often phone snatchers. I had zipper locks on my backpack
I’ve been to Paris many times and never experienced or witnessed pickpocketing. I’m sure it happens in very touristy areas but just stay aware of your surrounding and personal items.
It’s not. Most people are very nice. We hired a guide and a photographer while there and they were nice. Our AirBnB was nice. The really scary part are the public restrooms. So gross.
They tend to target more vulnerable people. I havent been pickpocketed in Paris but I also dont go to as many crowded places. You just need to keep your wits about you.
