Are they urgent tasks or mundane ones? Always do urgent important ones first. Let me say I haves tried numerous times to no avail to get her to light the mail load and split with the other admin with a different team and it doesn’t work. Mine I think is narcissistic as well so I have to play the game. Just do what you can.
Ask ChatGPT, You can kindly ask if you can have overtime to keep up with tasks if says no, find new ways to be efficient and do what you can and write down what need to do and leave tasks for the next day. I don’t like doing that but I have learnt I’m not going to kill myself over things if they won’t budge.
Pick your battles they might be trying to see what you can handle or not. Just tread lightly because nowadays you don’t want to loos your job. Good luck keep us posted!
I would make a priority list with an estimated time to complete. Then copy it to your boss to let them know if it's ok or if they want it in a different priority. If you need overtime and can get it approved, tell your boss you are willing to only if needed. Sometimes they think you just want it. That's why I used to say, if needed I am willing to work extra hours or on Saturday to get it done timely. Good luck!
Explain your problem to claude and ask it to create a visual representation of it. As in thoroughly explain it. In glorious detail
I need this advice too
Explain why you feel your workload is becoming unbearable but also come with solutions. Most importantly be prepared to possibly be replaced with someone else. Depends on your boss he/she may see you as a whiner.
Honestly is usually the best approach! It’s simple, tell your manager about your situation! Your quality is potentially being or about to be affected by the quantity of your work load! !
A lot of times bosses aren’t unaware about how long something takes, especially if they are not delegating something to you that they did before. Also make sure that you are communicating when they can expect to receive certain items back or certain items will be completed, and also when a new item that comes in might delay other items from getting finished, especially if you have to prioritize something new. So for instance, something like “I can definitely send out this email but it’s going to delay me on completing these other items by the end of the day if you want this done by the end of the day as well. Does that work or do you want me to switch some stuff around?
Yeah that’s definitely a good point!
I would say respectfully boss I loved my job and you are a great boss I know we are short handed but I am unable to add anything else.
I found that the bosses have no clue. I was one of a team of six bookkeepers handling the day-to-day finances of the firm's clients. Two people left, and their clients were distributed to the remaining four people, adding to our workload. Some were legacy clients who were successful years ago, but now couldn't cover their expenses. The bosses wouldn't tell those clients the hard truth, that they needed to scale down their lifestyle. Some bills couldn't get paid, and guess who got the blame.
